Caitlin Clark has set a new benchmark in the magazine world, breaking the record for the highest amount ever paid for a SLAM cover.
While it’s normal for debut magazines for athletes to have a high price as it is highly coveted and rare, Saturday’s report was a new level.
Marketed at Goldin Auctions, Clark’s debut SLAM magazine, headlined “The Legend of Caitlin Clark Is Just Beginning,” was sold for $4,819. The copy was graded CGC 9.9, making it the highest-graded known edition.

The sale represents a milestone for the rising superstar Caitlin Clark and SLAM Magazine, whose publications have traditionally commanded lower resale values compared to titles like Sports Illustrated.
Throughout Clark’s career, SLAM has also released four different magazine editions of her. They released Issue No. 252 when she joined the Fever. Last month, they released special “GOLD MEDAL” and “ORANGE MEDAL” editions, both sold out within minutes.
The former Iowa Hawkeye and her Indiana teammates were also recently featured on Sports Illustrated’s June magazine cover.
Moreover, this isn’t Caitlin Clark’s first headline-grabbing sale in the collectibles market. In March, her signed Prizm Gold Vinyl trading card sold for $366,000, surpassing the previous record for a female athlete’s card held by Serena Williams by nearly $100,000.
Caitlin Clark‘s continued dominance on and off the court is the biggest source of her memorabilia’s rising value. Despite being sidelined due to injury, she remains one of the biggest superstars in women’s basketball.
Fans and collectors not just watch Clark’s games but also for future releases, knowing anything bearing her name will be the next record-breaking item.
The Fever have gone 1–2 since star guard Caitlin Clark was sidelined with a left quad strain, expected to be out for two weeks.
Clark has missed the team’s last three games, during which Indiana dropped contests to the Washington Mystics last Wednesday and the Connecticut Sun on Friday before securing an 85–75 rematch win over the Mystics on Monday.
However, reporter Scott Agness has a crucial report about Clark’s injury.
“Caitlin Clark is scheduled to speak with reporters on Thursday to provide an update on her status + recovery after being sidelined with a left quad strain the past three games,” Agness tweeted.

Caitlin Clark’s absence from the court had noticeably impacted viewership across the league. The Fever’s games averaged 1.19 million viewers prior to her injury but have since fallen below 400,000.
Despite this, Clark has remained active with the team throughout her absence, and her return to the court is imminent.
