Caitlin Clark's teammate, Aliyah Boston, was quick to come to her defense in Saturday afternoon's skirmish involving Angel Reese — and that wasn't lost on the former No. 1 pick.
In the heat of the moment, the former South Carolina star didn't even realize she got a technical foul for her part in the confrontation. Which came as a pretty big surprise during her postgame media availability:
"Wait, what? AB got the tech? I got the tech? Oh no!" the Fever forward exclaimed, before asking jokingly if she could get half of her fine paid by Clark.
"I appreciate AB having my back, I guess," Caitlin chuckled to reporters. "I don't even know what she did... Have fun paying that fine. ... I got it for you, don't worry. It's real hefty."
Aliyah Boston was not aware she was given a technical foul when she stepped in front of Angel Reese.

"Wait, what? AB got the tech? Ohhh NO!"
*later turns to Caitlin about the fine* "can I get half?"

The whole situation started when Clark put a hard "take" foul on Reese to avoid giving up an easy layup. The ensuing contact led to the Angel hitting the floor and getting back up to try to get in her face.
That's when Boston decided to step in and make sure nobody messed with the leader of her team.
"It's just a good take foul," Clark explained during an in-game interview with Holly Rowe. "Either Angel gets wide open two points or we send 'em to the free throw line. Nothing malicious about it. It's just a good take foul, every basketball player knows that."
WNBA players reportedly get fined $200 by the league for the first three technical fouls they receive, with 4-6 doubling to $400 and a one-game suspension. Anything after that faces an $800 penalty.
No matter the amount, good on Clark for taking care of Aliyah. Especially given the reason she got fined.
