Caitlin Clark played an exceptional game on Tuesday in the Fever’s upset of the Atlanta Dream. She scored 27 points, 15 of them from three-pointers, while adding 11 assists and 5 rebounds.
She and her teammates pulled even(89-89) in the fourth quarter but then gave up two points while managing only one point from the free-throw line.
The Fever started hot, but their rhythm was repeatedly disrupted by the referees during the first half. Clark blamed the excessive number of fouls and free throws for making the game’s flow choppy.
"Yeah, challenges cannot take that long." She said when asked how it affected the flow. "It ruins the flow of the game. I get it. It's early in the year. The refs want to make the right call."
"We can't sit there for 2 and a half, 3 minutes, on an obvious hit out of bounds off of them, and still not know the call...We're just standing there. We're waiting, and we're waiting, and we're waiting." She added.
She acknowledges that there's a lot to look at for the refs, but still disagrees with the position they were put into regarding challenges in the first half.
"It's tough when Coach White is put in a position to have to use both her challenges in the first half on calls that were pretty point blank, and then were left with none there in the second half," Clark said.
“That’s why this league {WNBA} is so great, you have a couple days, then you get right back to it. You find a way to respond.”

She stressed working to find a better flow with her teammates, especially during the first quarter and the third quarter. Clark plans on getting "redemption" at their home on Thursday.
