Caitlin Clark Had One Word for Sophie Cunningham on Tuesday
Dale Zanine-Imagn Images

Caitlin Clark is currently working through her second season in the WNBA.

Clark started the season with the Indiana Fever as one of the WNBA's biggest stars, having established herself as an elite guard in her first year.

Indiana began the season with a 2-2 record, led by Clark. The former WNBA All-Star then suffered a left quadriceps injury and was thus sidelined for the past two games.

Now, the Fever sits at 2-4 on the season, looking to bounce back from a three-game losing streak.

As Clark works her way through the rehab process, slowly making her way back into the lineup, she's been active on social media.

On Tuesday, on Instagram, Clark shared a hilarious photo of Jim Carrey from the movie "Dumb and Dumber" and wrote:

"Sophie."

Sophie Cunningham has also been on the Indiana Fever's injury report as of late. In the Fever's latest report, Cunningham was ruled out of the team's next matchup against the Washington Mystics.

Cunningham is currently working through a right ankle injury.

During her first season with the Fever, playing alongside Clark and several other All-Stars, Cunningham has posted 6.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

During her second year with the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark has posted 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game.

Clark leads the Fever in scoring and assists.

Indiana has felt the absence of Clark, going 0-2 with her out of the lineup.

Dodgers Facing Trade Decision After Blake Snell News

Left-handed starting pitcher Blake Snell is in his tenth major-league season after making his debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2016. Snell spent time with the San Diego Padres, then signed a deal with the San Francisco Giants after the 2023 season, which he later opted out of to enter free agency in 2024. The 32-year-old veteran signed a five-year, $182 million contract this offseason with the Los Angeles Dodgers after an exceptional 2024 campaign. Snell earned such a lucrative contract thanks to his outstanding career to date, which includes two Cy Young Awards and an All-Star appearance. Over 213 career starts, he owns a 77–58 record, a 3.18 ERA and 1,372 strikeouts. Snell was placed on the injured list on April 6 (retroactive to April 3) with left shoulder inflammation after experiencing discomfort during a bullpen session; he had made only two starts for the Dodgers before the injury. After four minor-league rehab outings, manager Dave Roberts announced on Sunday that Snell is expected to rejoin the rotation next week. With his return looming, the Dodgers have decided to shift to a six-man rotation but now face a decision on right-hander Dustin May’s roster status. May returned to a full-time starting role for the first time in two seasons and has struggled. On Sunday against the Boston Red Sox, May allowed four runs in five innings of work, and he entered the start with an ERA of 4.73. May’s name has surfaced in trade rumors, and he is a candidate to potentially be moved to the bullpen. He is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

Bruins' David Pastrnak Calls Out Canadiens' Juraj Slafkovsky: ‘He Just Lacks Humility'

Juraj Slafkovsky is one of the most promising players in the NHL, but now he has been called out by David Pastrnak, who stated he lacks humility. After being picked No. 1 overall in 2022 NHL Draft, expectations were high in Montreal for young star Juraj Slafkovsky, and thus far, he's shown glimpses of being the elite level player many expected when he entered the National Hockey League. However, there are still some major steps to go, and in a recent interview, Boston Bruins star David Pastrnak pointed out perhaps one area where the 21-year old may need to improve moving forward. When asked about Slafkovsky and his potential, Pastrnak gave nothing but a glowing review of the young Canadiens star, but he did note that he believes Slafkovsky needs more humility. 'He's still a young player who is gaining experience in the NHL every year. This season it was already clear that he gave the team more than before...He just needs a little more humility, he should set an example for the young ones.' On the ice, there's no doubting that Slafkovsky has the presence, the size and the talent to be a true star, posting 101 total points over the past two seasons, but for whatever reason, it appears as though Pastrnak believes he needs to improve off the ice before he can take a major leap in Montreal. Ultimately, the talent is still there for Slafkovsky, and at 21-years old, he'll continue to learn off the ice, and if he can go anywhere close to living up to the potential that he's shown in his first three years at the NHL level, there's no doubt that he can be a big time star and help lead the Canadiens to significant post-season success.

Oilers Could Offer a Veteran Forward a Better Shot… Somewhere Else

Oilers Could Offer a Veteran Forward a Better Shot… Somewhere Else

Despite already making several roster moves this summer, the Edmonton Oilers might not be done just yet. According to Oilers Now host Bob Stauffer, the team could be considering another trade to trim its forward group. “The Oilers already got a lot of forwards right now,” he noted last week. “They might be moving a guy out.” Edmonton has retooled up front following several departures in free agency and trades. The additions of Andrew Mangiapane, Isaac (Ike) Howard, Matt Savoie, and Curtis Lazar were made to help fill those gaps, but there are questions about whether another top-six winger—and possibly a goaltender—are still needed to push the team back into Stanley Cup contention. In order to bring in more help — or at least create the cap room to discuss another move — someone may need to go. Would Henrique Be Open to a Bigger Role and Security Elsewhere? Despite having a no-move clause, Adam Henrique’s name continues to surface when it comes to a roster change. The Oilers are limited in what they can do unless an option he likes pops up. Set to earn $3 million this season, the veteran center may find himself bumped to the fourth line, a pricey role given internal options like Lazar or Noah Philp. The key to any move might be conving him that he’d have a great opportunity to increase his role and earn another contract on a different roster. The Oilers asked Henrique if he’d be open to waiving his no-trade clause. He declined. Whether they’ll revisit that idea down the line if he’s relegated to limited minutes remains to be seen. At 35 years old, Henrique might not have many years left. That said, a two or three-year deal somewhere would help him finish off his career, and he’s not likely to get that in Edmonton. How much does a chance to win trump landing somewhere that wants him and is willing to extend him? If not Henrique, Mattias Janmark is the easier forward to move. With no trade protection and a $1.45 million cap hit, the 32-year-old could be the odd man out—especially after a lackluster offensive year and a recent minor injury. Kasperi Kapanen, also without trade protection, appears safe after signing a new deal this summer. That said, if things start slowly and neither Henrique nor Janmark are moved, the Oilers could explore a Kapanen trade.

Vancouver Canucks Connected To Struggling Former First Round Pick On The Trade Market

The Vancouver Canucks clearly need an upgrade down the middle, and now Trevor Beggs has hinted they may have significant interest in Buffalo's Josh Norris. This past season saw plenty of movement at the trade deadline, and while some moves paid off big, others did not, with a great example of the latter being Josh Norris acquired by the Buffalo Sabres. The talented yet injury prone centre was a key piece in a move that sent Dylan Cozens to the Ottawa Senators, and while the Sabres had hopes of turning his career around, thus far, the injuries have struck again as he played in just three games after being acquired. With the team looking to push back into playoff contention, they may grow impatient with Norris, and given the Vancouver Canucks desires to upgrade down the middle, it's no surprise that they've now been linked to the 26-year old. Because he's good friends and a former college roommate of Quinn Hughes, Josh Norris will always be on the trade-market radar for Canucks fans. Norris only played three games with the Sabres before getting injured following the trade deadline. If he gets off to a subpar start in Buffalo, an organization that has missed the playoffs for 14 straight years can't afford to be patient with an injury-riddled 26-year-old, can they? That speculation comes from Locked on Canucks host Trevor Beggs, who believes that Norris' talent and his connection to Quinn Hughes make him an ideal trade candidate for the Canucks, a team that have undergone plenty of roster turnover in recent times. If Norris stays healthy and the Sabres start well, it's unlikely that they'll want to move him after he combined for 35 points in 56 games a year ago, but if that doesn't happen, don't be surprised to see Vancouver try and buy low on him.
