Caitlin Clark Has Perfect Response To The Criticism From Megyn Kelly

Most people congratulated Caitlin Clark when they found out she was named TIME's Athlete of the Year. Megyn Kelly, however, went on a rant about how she's disappointed in the star guard for the Indiana Fever.

Kelly had an issue with Clark acknowledging white privilege during her interview with TIME Magazine. The No. 1 pick from this year's WNBA Draft said, "I want to say I’ve earned every single thing, but as a white person, there is privilege." She then went on to talk about Black players who came before her and built the WNBA into what it is now. Apparently, those remarks from Clark made it seem like she was "bending the knee" to her peers. At least that's what Kelly suggested on social media.

"Look at this. She’s on the knee all but apologizing for being white and getting attention," Kelly wrote on X. "The self-flagellation. The 'oh pls pay attention to the black players who are REALY the ones you want to celebrate.' Condescending. Fake. Transparent. Sad."

While at the 2024 A Year in TIME dinner, NBC Sports host Maria Taylor asked Clark about the criticism she received from Kelly and others regarding her white privilege remark. Unsurprisingly, the NCAA's all-time leading scorer didn't back down from her initial take.

“I feel like I always have had good perspective on everything that’s kind of happened in my life, whether that’s been good, whether that’s been bad and then obviously coming to the WNBA — like I said, I feel like I’ve earned every single thing that’s happened to me over the course of my career,” Clark said. "But I also I grew up a fan of this league from a very young age. My favorite player was Maya Moore. I know what this league was about … it’s only been around 25-plus years, and so I know there has been so many amazing black women that have been in this league — and continuing to uplift them is very important and that’s something I’m very aware of."

Clark didn't stop there with her response to Kelly's social media rant. She made it known to everyone that she blocks out the noise from those not in her inner circle.

"I feel like one of my best skills is just blocking things out. The only opinions I really care about are the people I love, my teammates, my coaches, the people inside our locker room, the people I see every single day and I know have my best interest at heart," Clark explained. "I think my best skill is just blocking out the noise and hopefully it continues to be. Because with the way things are going and the way the WNBA is going, you want that attention and you embrace it and that’s what makes this so fun."

It's safe to say Caitlin Clark won't be putting much stock into Megyn Kelly's words.

Now that the ball is in Kelly's court, it'll be fascinating to see how she responds. Something tells us this feud isn't over just yet.
