Caitlin Clark Isn’t the Only Chiefs Fan on the Indiana Fever

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is a Kansas City Chiefs fan. She has been really open about her support for Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the rest of the NFL franchise, although she emphasized that she's not a fan of the team simply because of its recent success.

Growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, the Chiefs were the closest NFL team to Clark's family. That being said, she grew up cheering for Kansas City like her dad.

"My dad was a big Chiefs fan growing up," Clark said when she appeared on the "New Heights" podcast last January. "People think I'm like a bandwagon Chiefs fan, I'm like, 'No, I was there before Patrick and Travis.' We were ride or dies, so we've been big fans."

Clark has consistently shown her support for the Chiefs as well, often hyping them up on social media during games. More recently, during Kansas City's Week 8 game against the Detroit Lions at Arrowhead Stadium, the All-Star guard watched the contest alongside pop star Taylor Swift.

While Clark is undoubtedly the most popular Chiefs fan from the Fever, it's worth noting that she's not the only Kansas City supporter. In fact, another teammate might be an even bigger fan than she is.

Sophie Cunningham has always been vocal about being a Chiefs fan, and she made that crystal clear once again during her appearance on "Good Morning America" on Monday.

When asked about the Week 9 game between Kansas City and the Washington Commanders, the 29-year-old WNBA veteran expressed her love for the Chiefs.

"Chiefs fan through and through. Born and raised in Missouri. And so, you have Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce on your team, I'm always gonna bet on them," Cunningham said, via ABC.

As Cunningham mentioned, she is from Missouri, the same state where the Chiefs play. So she also grew up watching the team.

While Missouri had two NFL teams when she was younger — the now Los Angeles Rams were in st. Louis from 1995 to 2015 — Cunningham apparently had more of an affinity toward the Chiefs, and that hasn't changed.

It will definitely be interesting to see if Clark and Cunningham will ever watch a Chiefs game together. Perhaps the All-Star guard can bring her teammate along the next time she sits with Swift at Arrowhead.

Cunningham is a WNBA free agent this offseason, although Clark has expressed her desire to "run it back" with her in 2026.
