Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has been the talk of the town of late.
She was at the center of a heated altercation during the Fever’s 86-77 win over the Phoenix Mercury. Cunningham got involved after teammate Caitlin Clark got into it with Mercury veteran DeWanna Bonner. Cunningham pointed her finger at Bonner, resulting in a heated altercation between the two teams. A total of five technical fouls were handed out during the scuffle.
At the same time, Cunningham gave life to a new meme. Her finger-pointing moment blew up online and has become the 29-year-old’s latest viral sensation.
On Sunday, Cunningham decided to highlight the moment in her latest Instagram post.
Cunningham included several photos of the finger-pointing moment/meme in her post. Even her caption alluded to the incident.

Clark was among Cunningham’s Fever teammates who jumped on the comments section. The two-time All-Star was left speechless by the post. Clark had no words, instead using a couple of emojis to express her reaction to Cunningham’s latest Instagram update.

In a recent episode of her “Show Me Something” podcast, Cunningham revealed that the Bonner altercation all started when Cunningham questioned the refs about Clark’s technical foul. She demanded that Bonner get a tech, too, for her role in the exchange. The Mercury forward did not like this at all and decided to go after Cunningham. Unsurprisingly, Cunningham did not back down one bit.

Unfortunately for the Fever, Clark is currently out of the picture with a back injury. The former WNBA Rookie of the Year tweaked her back on Wednesday in their rematch against Phoenix. She was forced to sit out Saturday’s blowout win against the Los Angeles Sparks.
The Fever have not provided a firm timetable for Clark’s return. If she misses more time, Cunningham and Co. will need to step up their game with their cornerstone superstar sidelined.
Indiana’s next matchup is on July 5 against the defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces.
