Caitlin Clark Makes Statement About Belonging in the WNBA
Jeffrey Becker

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is now in Year 2 of her WNBA career and is looking to elevate her game even further.

Last season, she was named a WNBA All-Star, earned a spot on the All-WNBA First Team, and won the Rookie of the Year award. With those honors and averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists, she proved she was worthy of the No. 1 overall pick.

Clark and the Fever will open the season on Saturday against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. Before then, the 23-year-old spoke to the media after practice on Friday, making it clear she knows she belongs in the WNBA.

"I've been in this league for a year now," Clark said. "I know I belong. I know I can perform, and I know I can make my teammates better every single night, and that's my job."

Clark also said that confidence and experience will help her be better prepared for this season, and she will stay positive even if she faces some struggles along the way.

"So, just being confident in that and coming out here, and not everything's going to be perfect," Clark added. "Give yourself grace. There's going to be really good moments. There's going to be moments where you struggle. So, just trying to stay as neutral as I can and stay positive. But, I think just being confident and, I've been in these moments before and I'm ready for them."

Clark enters this season as the betting favorite to win the 2025 WNBA MVP award. According to ESPN Bet, her odds are +200, with Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson at +225 and Minnesota Lynx forward at +300.
