After splitting the mini two-game series with the Atlanta Dream, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever found themselves sitting at 2-1 through the first three games of the 2025 WNBA season.
On Saturday, Clark and the Fever had their biggest challenge of the young season, facing Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty, who are coming off a WNBA championship in 2024.
Coming into the game, Clark had recorded 14 career double-doubles with points and assists, tied for the seventh-most in WNBA history with former Phoenix Mercury star Diana Taurasi, who spent 20 years in the league.
With 1:04 left in the third quarter, Clark sank a 25-foot step-back three while being fouled, giving her 12 points and securing a double-double.
It marked the 15th points and assists double-double of her two-year career, moving her past Taurasi into sole possession of seventh place on the WNBA’s all-time list in that category.
Clark now trails Las Vegas Aces star Chelsea Gray (16) for the sixth-most points and assists double-doubles in WNBA history and Liberty guard Natasha Cloud (17) for fifth.
Still, Clark has a long way to go to break the all-time points and assists double-double record, owned by Chicago Sky point guard Courtney Vandersloot, who has achieved this 61 times in her WNBA career.
But Clark wasn't done there. According to Polymarket Hoops on X, she also passed Gray (16) in total double-doubles by a guard with her 17th (all statistics).

Clark is off to a strong start to her second campaign in the WNBA. Prior to the Liberty game, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star was averaging 19.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and a league-leading 9.0 assists per game.
Following Saturday’s game, the Fever will have a few days off before taking on Sonia Citron and the Washington Mystics in the nation’s capital on Wednesday.
