Caitlin Clark Pumped On the Bench as Her Fever Embarrass A’ja Wilson’s Aces

Caitlin Clark entered her sophomore season determined to build off her stellar debut in the WNBA. She had prepared all offseason and prioritized rest so that she can give her all in the 2025 season as the Fever targeted a championship.

So far, the superstar point guard has missed 7 of their last 16 games. The first 5 were after she strained her quad. Then a groin injury forced her to sit out two games, the last of which was the Commissioner’s Cup final.

The Fever resoundingly won the Cup, and Clark rejoiced along with her teammates as they finally seemed to fix their early season inconsistencies. However, her injury needed to be carefully managed, and even though they were to face the Las Vegas Aces, the team asked her to sit on the bench.

Caitlin Clark came in wearing Fever gear as she took her seat with her coaches on one side, and her teammates on the other. From the start of the game, her team looked to be a step ahead of the two-time champions. In the second quarter, that became multiple steps as the lead grew.

In the third quarter, the Aces came out with the intention to reduce their deficit and take control of the game. However, the home team seemed to have figured out their chemistry issues, as they buzzed around the court, scoring at will.

Caitlin Clark was their biggest cheerleader, as she leaped off her seat every time her teammates scored or stopped the Aces from doing so. She saw her teammates battle against MVP A’ja Wilson and her teammates with confidence to win the game, 81-54.

Caitlin Clark high-five’s head coach after technical foul

This was the first time in 16 tries when the Indiana Fever managed to beat the formidable Las Vegas Aces. The latter have been the gold standard of what a championship team should be, as A’ja Wilson and her Olympic teammates dominated the league.

This season, there have been some inconsistencies in their play, too. It seems the Fever took advantage of that as they build on the momentum from the Commissioner’s Cup win. That confidence oozed off their head coach, Stephanie White, as she out-coached Aces HC Becky Hammon.

Midway through the fourth quarter, White was arguing with the officials about a non-call. Then, when Sydney Colson drew a foul off her shot, White yelled at the closest referee. That official hit her with a technical foul.

Usually, in such instances, players tend to calm their head coach down. But Caitlin Clark, being true to her trash-talking self, cheered and clapped, watching her head coach get in the face of the officials. It seemed she was happy that her head coach was going to ensure officials know when they were wrong.

Tyrese Haliburton wants Aari McDonald jersey after stellar performance

After DeWanna Bonner asked the Indiana Fever to be released, many felt the team would go out and bring in another forward to compensate for the loss. However, they did not seem to need another forward after Lexie Hull‘s growth seems to have made up for it.

Instead, they went in and signed Aari McDonald again. Last time she was on the roster when Caitlin Clark was out with the quad injury. This time, and especially after her performances in these past few games, it is likely that the stay is permanent.

The nimble and shifty guard was everywhere on the court, and has excelled as a starter, feeding her teammates and also cutting to the rim whenever she sees an opening. This is the same Aari McDonald that once was trolled for forgetting her free throws in order to guard Clark while she was with the Sparks.

Now, she has found a new legion of fans after Tyrese Haliburton tweeted that he wanted her jersey. McDonald’s impact, both on the court and off it, is evident as her jerseys are flying off the shelf after these last two important victories.
