The Indiana Fever opened up the 2025 regular season with one of the most exciting games already with a home game against the Chicago Sky.
Caitlin Clark versus Angel Reese has been the main event in women's basketball since they played against each other in college, with Clark coming out on top all but once.
The opener was no different, as Clark tallied her first triple double of the season as the Fever dominated the Sky 93-58.
Clark is surrounded by new teammates, including former Auburn Tigers guard DeWanna Bonner, who moved into third on the all-time scoring list in the WNBA in game one with the Fever.
The young sensation was on the bench, and Bonner still trying to move into the No. 3 spot, was unable to get the ball in a position to score. Clark said in an interview that she asked to go in to help get her new teammate the achievement she deserved.
"Let me go in there, it's kind of driving me nuts on the baseline not watching DB get this," said Clark to Fever head coach Stephanie White.
Her competitive nature and drive for making her teammates around her better is what makes her one of, if not the face of the WNBA. At such a young age, drawing in historic numbers at every game Clark and the Fever are playing is a great symbol for the league's growth.
Bonner's incredible achievement was not the only piece of entertainment during the Fever season opener. Clark committed a take foul on Reese on a would-be wide open layup, and Reese was upset with the foul and the outburst resulted in Clark receiving a technical foul.
Only days into the WNBA season, and loaded with entertainment, provides for a good start and hopeful for an incredible season. Clark, Bonner and the Fever will be a team to watch, and could see Bonner pass current Connecticut Sun center Tina Charles as the No. 2 all-time leading scorer at some point this season.
