Caitlin Clark Sends Clear Message After Heated WNBA Fight

Caitlin Clark had a clear message to the Indiana Fever after things escalated in the final seconds during the team's win against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. As the game ended, Clark organized a huddle with her Fever teammates with simple instructions.

There had been multiple physical altercations during the Fever's 88-71 blowout win over the Sun. Clark was poked in the eye by Jacy Sheldon and responded by pushing the Sun guard during the third quarter.

This prompted Marina Mabrey to react by sending Clark to the ground by using her shoulder. With less than a minute remaining in the game, Sophie Cunningham fouled Sheldon hard, prompting a fight to break out leading to multiple ejections.

Cunningham's hard foul appeared to be retaliation for the incident against Clark.

As the clock struck zero, Clark was not out for revenge against the Sun. Clark gathered her teammates and pointed to the locker room urging the Fever to avoid any more altercations.

"Let's go. ... Let's get out of here," Clark appeared to say pointing to the locker room.

Clark has spoken at length about the physicality that seems to follow her from opponents.

“I think everybody is physical with me, they get away with things that probably other people don’t get away with,” Clark said in June 2024, per the Associated Press. “It’s tough, but that’s just the fact of the matter.

“This is a very physical game, and you’re going to get pressure, this is professional basketball. It is what it is, honestly.”

It will be interesting to see if the WNBA levies any suspensions for the multiple heated incidents in the Sun-Fever matchup. Clark ensured things did not escalate even more following the game by encouraging the Fever to head to the locker room.
