Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever won big in their opener, blowing out Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky 93-58 on Saturday.
Clark posted a triple-double in the victory, notching 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. It was a well-rounded scoring effort for the Fever, who got 19 points from Aliyah Boston and 15 points apiece from Natasha Howard and Kelsey Mitchell.
Veteran newcomer DeWanna Bonner added seven points and her free throws in the fourth quarter moved her to sole possession of No. 3 on the WNBA's all-time scoring list.
It was an opener with much fanfare and reason to celebrate. However, Clark feels the Fever still have a lot to work on.
"I know we put up 93 points and won by 30, but I felt we still could have been a lot better," Clark told ESPN's Holly Rowe in her postgame interview. "Now we go back to work. We have hard games coming up. That’s the thing about this league. You have a few days but then it’s on to the next."
Clark and Indiana will see the Atlanta Dream twice during the week before a high-profile matchup against the defending champion New York Liberty on May 24.
The Fever have the fourth-best championship odds, per ESPN BET. Only the Las Vegas Aces, Minnesota Lynx and Liberty are ahead of Clark and Co.
