It has not been a smooth sailing season for the Indiana Fever. The fact that they are currently sitting on an 8-8 record approaching the mid-way point of the campaign is a testament to this fact.

Despite their struggles, the Fever are still on the brink of their first-ever Commissioner's Cup championship. They face the defending champs, the Minnesota Lynx, on Tuesday in a single game winner-take-all matchup.

The big concern for Indiana is that Caitlin Clark is questionable to play. The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year has been out of commission in the Fever's last two games due to a groin injury, and she is now in danger of sitting out one of her team's most important games of the season.

Clark, however, rallied the troops ahead of Tuesday's pivotal matchup. The 23-year-old acknowledged the challenges her team has faced thus far, which at the same time is something she believes they can use to their advantage.

“Nobody said this season was going to be perfect for us," Clark said, via Joshua Heron of IndyStar. "There’s always going to be ups and downs, and I think as we get moving here through All-Star, these are the moments we’re going to be able to look back on and hopefully be able to give a lot of credit to for certain situations that we were in.

“Injuries or coaches not being here for a couple of games, everyone has been through a little bit of adversity here. Just giving our group credit for being able to stick together and know that whatever is in our locker room is really all we need to go out there and win."

It has been about weathering the storm for the Fever amid Clark's injury absence. She's missed seven games this season, and Indiana has lost four of those.

As Clark said, however, these types of tough situations have the potential to bring out the best in the squad. It's not going to be easy, but the former Iowa star is confident that her team has it in them to make it through.

“Honestly, I'm really proud of our group every single day; we come back with the same energy, the same attitude, and wanting to get better,” Clark said. “Being in situations that have been tough and responding really well every single time is what we could always fall back on.”
