Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark picked up right where she left off in her historic rookie season, when she set the WNBA rookie record with 122 three-pointers. In Saturday’s season opener against the Chicago Sky, she stayed hot from deep, hitting 4-of-8 from beyond the arc and recording a triple-double: 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

On Tuesday, the Fever faced the Atlanta Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, looking to start the 2025 WNBA season 2–0. Before tip-off, Clark spoke to the media and was asked about her long-range shooting and its future in the game.

The reigning Rookie of the Year went on to shout out Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, saying, "you've got to give Steph a lot of credit for what he's been able to do for a lot of shooters and just inspiring kids to want to be great shooters."

"I don't think it was like any moment of during my career where I was like, oh, like now I need to shoot a bunch of threes," Clark said. "I think it's just how the game's kind of evolved, and you've got to give Steph [Curry] a lot of credit for what he's been able to do for a lot of shooters and just inspiring kids to want to be great shooters."

Widely considered the greatest shooter in basketball history, Curry holds the all-time record for most career three-pointers, the most in a single season, the most games with 10 or more threes, and several other three-point records.

Clark also reflected on how the game of basketball began without a three-point line and how it has evolved to a point where most players can shoot from beyond the arc.

"The game hasn't always been played that way," Clark stated. "I mean, we started basketball with no three-point line, so the game has come a long way, and I think that's the great thing about basketball. It's just continuing to evolve and continuing to get better and continuing to see players with better skill sets. So obviously I'm a big fan of a lot of threes."
