The Indiana Fever faced more adversity than nearly any team in the WNBA this season due to a slew of injuries, yet they still managed to push the Las Vegas Aces to the brink in the semifinals before being eliminated.

The Fever lost five players to season-ending injuries before the playoffs — including star point guard Caitlin Clark.

At the forefront of Indiana’s success in Clark’s absence was Kelsey Mitchell, who appeared in every game, led the team in scoring, and emerged as an MVP finalist.

On Friday, Mitchell was named to the All-WNBA First Team, while teammate Aliyah Boston earned a spot on the All-WNBA Second Team.

Shortly after the announcement, the Fever posted a video featuring several teammates congratulating Kelsey Mitchell — including a heartfelt message from Caitlin Clark.

“Kelsey! Congratulations — First-Team All-WNBA! Truly nobody more deserving," Clark said. "It was incredible getting to watch you from the front row, literally every single night. What you did for our team was just amazing, and I couldn’t be happier for you. I’m so lucky to be your teammate, and I hope it stays that way for many more years to come. Proud of you.”

Caitlin Clark appeared in just 13 games this season before sustaining a groin injury that sidelined her for the remainder of the year, just before the All-Star break.

From that point on, it was a collective effort for the Fever to achieve what they did. Whenever one player went down, another stepped up. However, without Kelsey Mitchell’s offensive production and Aliyah Boston’s two-way impact, Indiana likely wouldn’t have made it as far as they did.

Mitchell finished the season averaging 20.2 points, 3.4 assists, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game while shooting 45.6% from the field and 39.4% from three-point range.
