The Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever took care of the 2024 WNBA Finals runners-up, the Minnesota Lynx, to win the 2025 Commissioner's Cup championship game behind a 74-59 win.
Five Fever players scored in double digits in Clark's absence, with Natasha Howard leading the Way with 16 points, followed by Sophie Cunningham's 13 points and three other players with 12 points each.
Amid an inconsistent start to the season (third in the East with an 8-8 record), the Fever beat an inspired Lynx (14-2 and the No. 1 seed in the West) over a month before the start of their regular-season series on Aug. 22.
Clark, who was out with a left groin injury, was visibly happy with her team's victory. They entered the game as heavy underdogs and pulled off the upset, holding the Lynx to seven points in the second quarter to mark the tempo of the game.
During Aliyah Boston's Instagram Live session (via Clark Report on X), while the team celebrated, Clark sent a short yet strong message to her rivals, rubbing her victory on their faces.
"I just know everybody in the league is sick," the former No. 1 overall pick was heard saying.
Clark's relationship with her colleagues has been rocky. Before this championship game, the 23-year-old was voted the ninth-best guard in the league by other players, which raised many eyebrows in the WNBA world.
She was named an All-Star captain and shattered the voting record that she set last season, receiving over a million votes to lead Team Clark against Napheesa Collier's squad.
Tuesday's victory might be a turning point for the Fever, who have struggled to find consistency and close out games. If Clark remains healthy and the rest of the team keeps up with her, this team could end up having a terrific end of the season.
