Caitlin Clark, who was recently crowned the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, is clearly enjoying her off-season. The Chicago Sky superstar could be seen watching her boyfriend Connor McCaffery at the Butler Bulldogs game. McCaffery is serving as assistant coach to the Bulldogs in their current season.
McCaffery was also a college basketball player and made his career in the University of Iowa. However, instead of playing at a higher level after his college basketball career ended, Clark’s beau went on to coach. Before joining the Butler Bulldogs as an assistant coach, McCaffery was coaching with the Indiana Pacers.
Clark was spotted sitting in the upper rows, presumably to avoid getting mobbed by eager fans. Caitlin Clark has a huge fan following, considering her brilliant performance in her rookie season. And, this is not the first time that Clark was present at one of McCaffrey’s games. She was also present at his coaching debut in the game against the Missouri State Bears.

Clark showed up to the game wearing a black shirt with a black jacket, and also wore black-framed glasses. Many fans came out to show their appreciation for Caitlin Clark’s glasses, with some X users stating that she should probably go on to wear them all the time.
It is no doubt that Caitlin Clark is simply growing in fame and popularity, long after her college basketball career ended. The star who now plays for the Chicago Sky, is enjoying the best of the season and the off-season. However, this is not the same fate for all college basketball stars. There are numerous players who simply peak in college and then have a permanent dip.
Diana Taurasi, who plays for the Phoenix Mercury, and is still considered a basketball legend, recently theorized that many players peak in college. According to Taurasi, those who peak in college basketball are not expected to do much in later years. Caitlin Clark’s stats and numbers simply do not add up to this theory, since she has rocketed to more fame after her NCAA career.
Clark, who now plays for the Indiana Fever, was recently awarded with the Rookie of the Year title, winning over her main rival, Angel Reese. Simply due to Clark’s fame, her games have been sold out, and this pattern is expected to continue into the 2025 WNBA season as well.
