Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have looked like one of the better WNBA teams during the 2025 preseason.

Through two games, the Fever have gone 2-0, defeating the Washington Mystics and the Brazilian National Team by a combined 69 points.

However, amid Indiana's training camp, All-Star Kelsey Mitchell revealed she is dealing with a concerning finger fracture. According to Indy Star's Chloe Peterson, Mitchell suffered the injury while playing overseas in China for the Shanxi Flame.

“(The injury is) healing on its own," Mitchell said on Wednesday. "There’s only so much you can do with fractured fingers, it’s a part of life, you know, part of basketball.”

Peterson added that Mitchell "wasn’t able to get it fixed or get any rehab on it while she was playing in China, but the trainers with the Fever are helping her work through it now."

In 2024, Mitchell had one of the better seasons of her seven-year career with the Fever. The former Ohio State star averaged 19.2 points on 46.8 percent shooting, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

Mitchell has leaned heavily on her 3-point shot throughout her WNBA career, averaging 6.3 attempts per game. However, that could be affected this season, as the fractured finger is on her shooting hand (left).

Still, Mitchell has not been added to any of Indiana's injury reports during the preseason and has performed well in both games.

In the 108-44 win over Brazil on Sunday, Mitchell had a solid outing, tallying 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting, three rebounds and three steals. In the first win over Washington, she still scored 12 points but shot 4-of-17 from the field and 2-of-10 from distance.

The Fever will finish out the preseason on Saturday, facing Brittney Griner and the Atlanta Dream. They will begin the preseason on May 17, opening up with the Chicago Sky at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
