As the Indiana Fever 2025 season tips off on Saturday, the team enters the year with heightened expectations following a significant turnaround in 2024.

After a challenging start, the Fever finished last season with a 20-20 record, securing their first playoff berth since 2016, playing off the back of Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark.

The offseason brought further changes, including the hiring of Stephanie White as head coach, who previously coached the Fever from 2015 to 2016.

The team also added experienced players like DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard to bolster their lineup, as well as rookie Makayla Timpson, who officially secured an Indiana Fever roster spot on Thursday.

"I'm super excited," Timpson said, reflecting on her achievement. "Grateful for the opportunity, thankful for the staff for believing in me, to get me on the roster, to be a great fit for the team. They're super great, and I can't wait to get to the season."

Selected 19th overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Timpson is the only rookie to secure a spot on the Fever's 11-player opening day roster.

Her inclusion came after a competitive training camp, where she outperformed fellow draftees Bree Hall and Yvonne Ejim, as well as training camp invitees Jaelyn Brown and Jillian Alleyne.

Timpson concluded her college career at Florida State as the school's all-time leader in rebounds (1,094), double-doubles (47), blocks per game (2.2) and true shooting percentage (59.5%).

In her senior season, Timpson averaged 17.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game, earning All-America honorable mention honors and being a finalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year.
