Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever wrapped up their preseason schedule on Saturday with an 81–76 win over the Atlanta Dream. The reigning Rookie of the Year played 23 minutes and 18 seconds, recording 13 points, six rebounds and seven assists.
Before tipping off the WNBA regular season on May 17, the team celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday by sharing a video of players sending heartfelt messages to their moms.
Clark’s clip appeared second, right after teammate Brianna Turner. But what stood out wasn’t just how much her mom means to her — it was her sharing that she doesn’t go to her to discuss basketball.
Instead, the 23-year-old said she turns to her mom to talk about "life," which she called "the most important."
"My mom means the world to me," Clark said. "She's somebody I talk to every single day. She's kind of like that person that's always there to pick you up, like she's not somebody I really go to about the basketball. She's the person I go to about life, which is the most important."

Despite Clark’s revelation that she doesn’t talk basketball with her mother, Anne Clark plays a major role in her daughter’s off-court success.
She leads strategic partnerships for CC22 Ventures LLC, helping secure major brand deals for the Fever star, including Nike and Gatorade.
Anne has also attended many of Clark’s college games at Iowa and her WNBA games — mostly home matchups — and is often seen in the stands alongside her husband and Caitlin’s father, Brent Clark.
