Caitlin Clark’s team, the Indiana Fever , is coming to the 2025 WNBA season not short on firepower, as the franchise recently acquired big shots that would work alongside their already formidable roster. Among their newest member was two-time WNBA Champion and former Las Vegas Aces point guard Sydney Colson.
In a recent courtside interview, Sydney Colson opened up about what made her ultimately decide to sign with Caitlin Clark’s team, and the feeling she had prior to it.
“It really came down to me knowing a few of the players that were there,” Colson said . “I played with Kelsey Mitchell here at AAU for the first three seasons and we developed just like a really close bond and relationship. We check on each other in the offseason. Like hitting each other during the season, during games. I just knew that if she was going back, I was gonna be really comfortable with the situation.”

Kelsey Mitchell recently signed a supermax contract with the Fever. The deal, worth $249,244, extended Mitchell’s tenure with the Fever for an additional year. With Mitchell re-signed, the Fever’s dynamic backcourt duo of Mitchell and rookie Caitlin Clark remained intact, along with the promising presence of Aliyah Boston.
Colson also cited the trust she has with Fever general manager Amber Cox and the team’s new coach, Stephanie White.
“Stephanie (White) going there, Amber Cox talking to me… I had a vibe that I could trust the people that I was talking to and that’s how I felt about the Aces organization,” Colson added.
Caitlin Clark , in an interview, praised her team, the Indiana Fever, for investing in their pliers, which he described as the franchise’s dedication to bringing the best out of their players. In particular, she showed appreciation for the new training facility being built for the team.
“I am very lucky and fortunate to be a part of Fever who are putting $78 million on a 108,000 square feet training facility,” Clark said. “The other big one in the WNBA is 64,000 so it just shows you the kind of space that we are going to have from mental health spaces to courts to hair salons just random things are going to be absolutely incredible.”
