Indiana Fever’s newest guard, Sophie Cunningham, wasted no time connecting with fans and sharing her excitement about joining the team.
In a video posted on the Fever’s official Instagram page, Cunningham proudly wore her new jersey and delivered a heartfelt greeting.
“Hey, guys! It’s Sophie Cunningham here,” she said enthusiastically. “I’m finally in Indiana, and I am so, so excited to be here and meet all of you. See you guys at the game, bye!”
Fever fans were quick to welcome Cunningham with open arms, flooding the comments with messages of support.
"Hottest team for sure," one fan declared confidently.
Another eagerly wrote, "Already got your Fever jersey, Let’s Go!!!"
"Looking good. Welcome to Indianapolis,” a local chimed in.
Others were quick to praise Cunningham’s fit with the team, with one user claiming, "Fever uniform looks great on ya!!"
One particularly devoted supporter even went as far as to say, "Sophie Cunningham makes the planet earth better."
Others simply welcomed her and praised how great she looked in the team’s colors.
Beyond her excitement for joining the Fever, Cunningham also had high praise for her new teammate, Caitlin Clark. Speaking to reporters at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday, she acknowledged Clark’s massive impact on basketball and expressed her eagerness to support her.
“She has changed our game in the best possible way and every way,” Cunningham said.
“I want her to go do her thing and anything she needs from me, I’m gonna be here,” she added.
Having previously interacted with Clark at the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game, Cunningham was impressed with how the young star handled the immense pressure and attention throughout her career.
Cunningham, who played her entire WNBA career with the Phoenix Mercury before being traded in a four-team deal, is eager for a fresh start with the Fever.
The trade, finalized on Feb. 2, per IndyStar, sent her from the Mercury to the Fever, where she will join a revamped roster filled with talent and experience.
