Caitlin Clark’s Priceless Reaction to Sophie Cunningham’s Post

The Fever’s official Instagram account jumped into the conversation too, adding a fire emoji to the post. It was a lighthearted moment between teammates that also showed fans just how quickly the new-look Fever are building chemistry.

Cunningham, who scored 21 points, eight rebounds and two assists in the Fever’s preseason opener, has already made a big impression both on and off the court.

Known for her aggressive playing style and fearless attitude, she found herself in the middle of multiple heated moments during the win over the Washington Mystics. She clashed with rookie Kiki Iriafen and later got shoved by Brittney Sykes.

After the game, Cunningham said she was starting to understand what it’s like to play for one of the WNBA’s most-watched teams.

“We have a huge target on our backs,” she said. “I don’t think that’s a secret.”

Head coach Stephanie White praised Cunningham for her edge and competitive drive. 

“Sophie’s a dawg,” White said, per IndyStar. “She’s a competitor… she raises the level of play of everybody around her.”

Clark, who missed the opener with a minor leg issue, returned in Indiana’s second preseason game on Sunday at Iowa’s Carver-Hawkeye Arena. She scored 16 points and delivered six rebounds and five assists in front of a sold-out crowd.
