Groin injury or not, Caitlin Clark remains the undisputed face of the WNBA. Even while sidelined for the Indiana Fever, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year continues to make waves—this time through the collectibles market.
Last Thursday, Fanatics Collect’s July Premier auction saw one of Clark’s trading cards sell for a staggering $660,000, smashing her previous record of $366,000 for the 2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Signatures Gold Vinyl autograph 1/1 graded PSA 10.
The new top-selling card? A 2024 Panini Flawless Platinum Rookie Logowoman 1/1. But that crown may be short-lived. Another Clark card—the Immaculate WNBA Rookie Logowoman 1/1—is currently up for auction and has already reached $219,600. Collectors expect that number to climb significantly before the auction closes on August 9.
According to The Athletic’s Larry Holder, Clark’s card market hasn’t dipped despite her injury-riddled season. He highlighted why cards like Flawless and Immaculate command top dollar.
“The autographs are directly on the card. This is far more desirable to collectors than autographed stickers that are placed on cards, which is what the Prizm card has,” Holder explained.
Clark’s Flawless card was also personally inscribed with “769 pts and counting,” a nod to her scoring total last season during her Rookie of the Year campaign. The Immaculate version features “ROY 24” to mark the same achievement.
Regarding her current status, the Indiana Fever issued an update on Thursday. The team said Caitlin Clark underwent more tests this week, but no new injuries were found. She’s continuing rehab with the team’s medical staff and remains day-to-day, with no set return date yet. The Fever say they’re optimistic and will provide further updates when available.
Clark’s impact on the WNBA has gone far beyond stats. Since her arrival, the league has seen booming ticket sales, higher TV ratings, and packed arenas. Her star power is undeniable—and if Skip Bayless is to be believed, the WNBA’s future may very well hinge on how it protects and preserves its brightest talent.
