Caitlin Clark's WNBA MVP Odds After Injury Announcement

It's only a quad injury, and if all goes according to plan, Fever star Caitlin Clark should only miss four games of the WNBA's new, expanded, 44-game slate. But still, the time missed is apparently having quite an impact on her 2025 season--or, at least, how WNBA bettors are viewing it.

Clark quickly surpassed opening-line favorite A'ja Wilson to take the reins as the top betting choice to win the league's MVP in this, her sophomore season. Just three days ago on Bet MGM, Clark was listed as a near even-money favorite to win MVP, tabbed as a minus-110 on the money line.

The Lynx's Napheesa Collier was No. 2, at plus-275. Those lines had been shifting in Clark's favor since the opening of the season, as she had been minus-195, and Collier had been at plus-250.

Now, with the injury, there has been a major change. Clark is no longer in the top spot, as she has dropped to plus-250 as of Monday evening. Collier has ascended into favorite's status, at minus-175.

At ESPN Bet, the switch has been the same--Collier is now on top, at minus-135, and Clark is No. 2 at plus-210.

"The Indiana Fever announced on Monday that top-scorer Caitlin Clark will miss at least two weeks with a quad strain," ESPN Bet wrote. "Clark, averaging 19.0 points and a league-high 9.3 assists, was previously the favorite to win WNBA MVP at -115. With the announcement of Clark's injury, Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier has moved into favorite status."

Even without the Clark injury, it was likely only a matter of time before Collier took over as the MVP favorite, certainly if she had continued on something close to her current pace. Not only is Minnesota 4-0 on the year, but Collier is averaging 29.5 points and 7.3 rebounds, amking 56.2% of her shots and 53.8% of her 3-pointers.
