Angel Reese became the fastest player in league history to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds, achieving it in only 38 games. Despite that, the Chicago Sky were bested by Phoenix Mercury with a score line of 94-89.
After the game, Coach Tyler Marsh delivered more troubling news to the fans. A reporter noted that Reese was visibly in pain with her hand.
When asked whether it was the same issue as before, Marsh couldn’t answer definitively, saying it would require further assessment.
"Yeah, I'm not sure. We'll reassess and have a better idea later." He said.
Reese fractured her left hand in 2024 after a fall. She underwent surgery to prevent arthritis or a complete shattering of the bone later, but she’s continued to experience problems with that hand. Even in March, she ran into issues with it during the Rose’s regular-season finale.
Reese scored 13 points in 34 minutes, along with 15 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks on Tuesday. The Sky held a four-point lead entering the fourth quarter, but the Mercury rallied in the final period behind Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas.

The coach also detailed how Mercury was able to find the space in the last three minutes to secure a win.
"I think down the stretch, every possession matters, obviously, offensively and defensively...those shooters got loose at crucial moments, and so the players did our job." He said after the game.
"They did their job, so I can't ask for anything more from them. We just got to continue to dig deep. I got to be better for them so we can come out on the top side of one of these things."
