Chicago Sky Announce Exciting News Before New York Liberty Game

The Chicago Sky got off to a brutal start in the 2025 WNBA season. They dropped their opening matchup against their rivals, the Indiana Fever, by a lopsided score of 93 to 58.

Angel Reese showcased some offseason improvements, however, which was the only positive sign from the contest. She recorded a 12-point, 17-rebound double-double, building off of her illustrious rookie campaign.

New head coach Tyler Marsh still has some things to figure out early in his coaching career, like which players should be playing more or less. Finding the right combination of talent will be paramount for Chicago's success this season.

Unfortunately, the road will not get any easier this week for the Sky. They will take on the defending WNBA champions, the New York Liberty, on Thursday, May 22, in their home opener.

Ahead of the event, the Sky announced some exciting news for the game. There will be several musical guests and activities taking place in the arena before and during the contest, which should only increase the excitement around this young team.

"turn us up & BE LOUD ‼️ ," the Sky wrote. "swipe through to see what have coming for our big night ➡️."

While Saturday's loss to the Fever was a blowout, it is too early in the season for the franchise or its fan base to be discouraged. Rookie guard Hailey Van Lith looked promising in limited minutes, so she could see a bigger role going forward.

Kamilla Cardoso also has more in the tank than she showed in the season opener. This is a talented team, it will just take some time for all the new pieces to fit together well.

Beating the Liberty is still unlikely, especially considering that they dismantled the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday to begin their season. However, Chicago will have a distinct home court advantage on Thursday and hopefully learned a lot from their loss to the Fever.
