The Chicago Sky have hit a rough patch, dropping their last five games to fall to 7–18 on the season, with 19 games remaining heading into Tuesday night’s matchup against the Washington Mystics.

They've been without star forward Angel Reese for the past two contests, as she’s been sidelined with a lingering back issue. Reese has easily been the team’s most impactful player this season and was their lone representative at the WNBA All-Star Game.

However, ahead of Tuesday’s game, Sky head coach Tyler Marsh delivered a much-needed update, revealing that Reese is set to return to action against the Mystics—an encouraging development for a Chicago team desperate for a spark.

Fans reacted to the news on Tuesday:

"My Demon Back," a fan said.

Someone else added, "LETS GOOO."

Another person wrote, "Goat backkkk."

"She better be healthy or feel better I know that . But yes I will be watching . Let’s get this W !!" One more fan commented.

When Angel Reese hasn't been on the floor over the past two seasons—a span that now totals nine games following Sunday’s loss to the Indiana Fever—the Sky are just 1–8 without her. That stat alone underscores just how vital she is to Chicago’s competitiveness on a nightly basis.

This season, Reese is averaging 13.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game while shooting 44.8% from the field and a much-improved 77.8% from the free-throw line.

If the Sky hope to claw their way into late-season playoff contention, they'll need to start stacking wins soon. Time is running out—and after finishing 13–27 last year and missing the postseason, they’re in danger of missing the playoffs for a second straight season. That hasn’t happened since the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
