Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese walked into a perfect situation during her rookie season, which allowed her to blossom into one of the WNBA's best players. Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon empowered her to be a major catalyst for the team's offense and defense, and Reese was up to the task.
She averaged 13.6 points per game as a rookie, and she led the entire league with 13.1 rebounds per game. While her shooting efficiency was not great, Reese grew as a passer and defender throughout the year, and ended up averaging 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per contest. She has seemingly been in the gym all offseason working on her game as well.
Reese was thrown for a loop early in the offseason, however, when Weatherspoon was fired and new head coach Tyler Marsh took over in Chicago. Despite a learning curve with new leadership, Reese has already showcased her improvements through several preseason contests.
Marsh has been nothing but complimentary of his young star player, and he continued to praise her on Monday. He spoke to the local media in Chicago and made a bold declaration about Reese ahead of the WNBA season.
"There are no limits to what Angel can be as a player," Marsh said.

Already in her first season, Reese made the All-Star team and earned All-Rookie honors as well. She was the only player who earned a vote for Rookie of the Year besides Caitlin Clark, which proves how much of an impact she had in Year 1.
The Sky open up their season on May 17 against the Indiana Fever, which will give Reese her first real opportunity to display what she worked on all offseason. As her coach said, there are no limits to what she can become as a player, and Reese has a chance to make her coach look prophetic if she can grow even more in Year 2.
