Chicago Sky Coach Responds to Angel Reese's Comments About Him After Blowout Loss

The Chicago Sky suffered their second straight blowout loss on Tuesday night. After a 79-52 defeat at the hands of their biggest rivals, the Indiana Fever, on Saturday, Chicago got itself blown out again on Tuesday, 85-66, courtesy of the defending champions, the New York Liberty.

Angel Reese stepped it up for her team in this one, logging another double-double with 17 points (on 8-of-13 shooting) and 11 rebounds, to go along with three assists, two steals and one three-pointer.

Despite Reese's strong effort, however, the Sky still lost big, as they fell to 2-6 on the season.

Reese spoke to reporters after the game, and one of the questions she faced was about first-year head coach Tyler Marsh.

"We have to give Tyler grace because he's a rookie coach, too," Rees said, via Sky reporter Karli Bell. "He's the head coach, but it's us on the floor.

"We have to look ourselves in the mirror and be patient with ourselves and continue to just grind. We don't point the finger."

Reese clearly does not want to assign blame following Chicago's disappointing loss, and she certainly refuses to throw her coach under the bus.

Marsh caught wind of the All-Star forward's postgame comments, and he responded by showing his gratitude to Reese.

"I appreciate those comments from Angel," he said. "Our players are the ones who deserve the grace.

"I know what comes with the territory of being a head coach. I accept that for better or for worse."

Despite being a rookie coach, Marsh has made it clear that he is well aware of what his job comes with. This includes taking criticism amid his team's poor start to the season. Chicago will continue to fall out of the playoff race if it doesn't get its act together soon, and Marsh will likely get the short end of the stick when that happens.

It's good to know that Marsh has the unwavering support of Reese, but as he said, he's ready to face the consequences of his team's struggles should they come.
