Chicago Sky Coach Reveals Big Kamilla Cardoso News Before Indiana Fever Game
Jacob Musselman / For IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Chicago Sky are set to face the Indiana Fever on Saturday in yet another highly anticipated matchup.

After missing practice on Thursday because of shoulder soreness, the Brazilian Sky center Kamilla Cardoso returned to the court as a full participant on Friday. While her participation in practice is a positive sign, her status remains uncertain on whether she will play in Saturday's game against the Fever.

Sky head coach Tyler Marsh gave these updates to the Chicago State of Mind, which covers college and professional sports leagues in Chicago.

Cardoso's shoulder soreness occurred on the same day it was announced that she and Fever's Damiris Dantas would be representing Brazil in the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup, which takes place from June 28 to July 6.

The Sky have had a challenging start to the 2025 WNBA season, holding a 2-4 record and ranking fifth in the Eastern Conference. Despite early setbacks, the team has shown resilience with back-to-back wins, thanks to strong performances from Ariel Atkins and Angel Reese.

Cardoso has emerged as a key contributor for the Chicago Sky during the 2025 WNBA season. Averaging 11.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game,  she has been a strong presence for the Sky. Her standout performance came on May 29, when she scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a 97–92 victory over the Dallas Wings.

She was the No.3 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and made an immediate impact despite missing her first six games due to a shoulder injury. In her debut, she contributed 11 points and six rebounds off the bench.

The Sky has not confirmed Cardoso’s availability, but fans can expect an update closer to game time as the team prepares for another key game.
