Monday, May 26, marks a significant day in the United States as the nation observes Memorial Day—the final Monday of May each year. This federal holiday honors the U.S. military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the country. It’s a solemn, meaningful occasion recognized nationwide.
Across the sports world, organizations pay tribute in their own ways. While Major League Baseball continues its tradition of playing games throughout the day, the WNBA has no scheduled matchups on Monday.
Despite coming off a tough third straight loss Sunday night against the Los Angeles Sparks, the Chicago Sky took a moment Monday morning to share a strong and respectful message in honor of Memorial Day—reminding fans that this day is about far more than wins and losses.
"grateful today and always for those who served," Sky posted onto social media.

The Sky haven’t opened the season the way they had hoped. While their three-game slate so far has been a tough one, they've surrendered 90-plus points in every contest and have lost each by double digits.
Dating back to last season, they’re now on an eight-game losing streak. With new head coach Tyler Marsh at the helm, expectations remain high to build off last year’s 13–27 record. However, it’s clear the team is going through some growing pains as they prepare for their next matchup Tuesday night against the Phoenix Mercury.
