Just hours ahead of their game against the Golden State Valkyries, the Chicago Sky took to Instagram on Friday to spotlight one of their brightest emerging stars.
The post featured a photo of Kamilla Cardoso, towering at 6-foot-7, donning her blue No. 10 Sky jersey, after she poured in a career-high 27 points in Tuesday's 97-86 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks.
Captioned, "we’re all fans of Kamilla, so it’s only right we kick off stat of the week with her @microsoft | #skytown," the post highlighted arguably Cardoso's best performance of her young WNBA career.
This outing also marked her third 20-point game, having previously hit 23 points on May 29 against the Dallas Wings, and on September 1, 2024, she poured in 22 points against the Minnesota Lynx as a rookie.
After earning McDonald’s All-American honors in 2020, Cardoso spent her freshman year at Syracuse before transferring to South Carolina, where she won national titles in 2022 and 2024.
In 2024, she was named NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player, a first-team All-American and also captured the WBCA Defensive Player of the Year award.
Selected third overall by the Sky in the 2024 draft, she earned All-Rookie honors and then sharpened her game overseas with the Shanghai Swordfish, where she was crowned WCBA International Player of the Year earlier this year.
Through 14 games this season, Cardoso is averaging 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.8 blocks per contest.
Despite her individual success, the Sky currently sit at 4-10, fifth in the Eastern Conference and 11th in the overall WNBA standings
