Chicago Sky Make Key Roster Addition After Loss to Indiana Fever

The Chicago Sky’s losing streak continued Sunday with a 93–78 loss to the Indiana Fever, as rookie star Angel Reese missed her second consecutive game due to a minor back injury.

Now sitting at 7–18, the Sky enter Tuesday night’s matchup against the Washington Mystics in desperate need of a spark. In response to the ongoing struggles, the team made a pair of notable roster moves on Monday afternoon.

Chicago waived veteran guard Moriah Jefferson, who joined the team in a midseason trade during the 2024 campaign. In her place, the Sky signed free-agent guard Sevgi Uzun for the remainder of the season.

Uzun, 27, has appeared in 47 WNBA games, most recently playing a full season for the Dallas Wings in 2024. She started 19 games and played in all 40 contests, averaging 4.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game.

Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca praised Uzun’s versatility and experience in a statement following the signing:

“We’re excited to add a two-way point guard in Sevgi Uzun,” Pagliocca said. “Uzun is a complete pro who is going to immediately contribute to the Chicago Sky. She’s played at a high level in the WNBA and overseas and will continue to prove to be a strong playmaker and defender.”

With injuries continuing to impact the roster and Jefferson struggling to stay on the floor consistently, the move signals the Sky’s urgency to find healthy contributors as the season winds down.

With 19 games remaining, Chicago faces an uphill battle to claw back into playoff contention. If there’s any hope of making a late run, it will require immediate results, which seems like a stretch at this moment I'm time.
