Second-year WNBA forward Angel Reese isn’t happy with how the 2025 season has gone for the Chicago Sky. Under first-year head coach Tyler Marsh, the team has dropped to 9-30 heading into Wednesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun.
With Reese and the Sky eliminated from playoff contention once again, she spoke with Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune about the disappointing season, demanding that the team add better players.
"I’m not settling for the same (expletive) we did this year,” Reese said. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me. I’m willing and wanting to play with the best. And however I can help to get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this offseason."
Reese also noted that guard Courtney Vandersloot, who will turn 37 and is coming off an ACL tear, isn’t the type of player she wants to build a championship-contending team around. She added that backup guards such as Rachel Banham and Hailey Van Lith aren’t ideal options either.
According to Front Office Sports’ Annie Costabile, Reese’s “direct attacks” didn’t sit well with her Sky teammates, and she will now have to address them in a newly scheduled team meeting, putting her in the spotlight as the locker room awaits her response.
"Multiple league sources told FOS the entire team has seen Reese’s comments and that teammates are unhappy with the direct attacks," Costabile wrote. "A team meeting is planned at which players are expected to address Reese directly."
While Reese can expect some pushback from her teammates, she did also mention that she would like to spend the rest of her career in Chicago. As long as the Sky make the necessary changes.
“I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me,” Reese added. “But while I am here, I’m going to try to stay open-minded about what I have here and maximize that as much as I can.”
Angel Reese went on record and torched her teammates in what multiple league executives characterized as an unprecedented move.

Reese and the Sky hoped to end a four-game losing streak against the Sun. And ahead of the game, Coach Marsh shared his thoughts on Reese's comments as well.
“We are aware of it," Marsh said. "We are addressing it in-house, currently speaking, so that’s where it’ll stay right now."
