Chicago Sky Reveal Injury Update Before Angel Reese’s LSU Return

On Thursday, the Chicago Sky PR revealed that the team will enter Friday's exhibition against the Brazilian National team with a clean injury report, per Chicago State of Mind Sports

Despite a late-season wrist injury that ended her run prematurely, Angel Reese arrives in full health for Friday’s contest, her surgically repaired wrist cleared for contact.

This means that the WNBA All-Star and former NCAA champion will be ready to play in her long-awaited return to Baton Rouge, with LSU set to host the preseason game.

With no starters sidelined, head coach Tyler Marsh will finally field his envisioned rotation intact, a luxury the Sky rarely enjoyed last season.

Last year’s 13-27 finish represented Chicago’s worst performance since 2018, as offensive struggles (77.4 points per game, 11th in the league) plagued the roster under then-coach Teresa Weatherspoon.

The Sky missed the playoffs for the first time in six years, exposing roster imbalances and a lack of scoring punch.

In November, the Sky bid farewell to Weatherspoon and brought in Marsh, fresh off his stint developing A’ja Wilson in Las Vegas.

Now, Marsh hopes to bring his development expertise to Reese and the Sky.

Over 34 games, Reese averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals, shattering the single-season rookie rebound record with 446 total boards (2nd in WNBA).

Her 15 consecutive double-doubles also set a new high-water mark for first-year players, eclipsing Candace Parker’s 2015 mark.

Friday’s game won’t count in the standings, but a fully available roster will help set the tone for Chicago going forward.
