Angel Reese did not waste any time leaving the United States as soon as her second season with the Chicago Sky came to an end.
The Sky played their final game of the campaign on Sept. 11, which was a 91-86 defeat against the defending champions, the New York Liberty. That marked Chicago’s fourth straight loss, with the team finishing with the second-worst record in the WNBA at 10-34.
Reese, who missed the last stretch of the season due to a variety of reasons, decided to leave the U.S. three days after the Sky’s final game, which also happened to be the first day of the WNBA playoffs.
The two-time All-Star took a vacation in South America. It appeared to be a very fun trip for Reese, who constantly provided updates via social media. In between her photos of her vacation activities were regular updates about the launch of her first signature shoe with Reebok, the Angel Reese 1.
On Thursday, the 23-year-old shared how emotional she was about the smashing success of her new signature sneaker, which sold out within minutes of the drop. Reese was clearly overwhelmed by the big news.
Reese has now announced her return to the United States. She did so by posting a photo of a plane on the tarmac on her Instagram Stories on Friday night. She geo-tagged Atlanta, Georgia, in her post.

It is unclear exactly why Reese is in Atlanta right now. It could be related to her recent Reebok launch, or possibly another personal trip after her South American vacation.
Either way, Reese has a very interesting offseason ahead of her. There is currently some uncertainty about her future with the Sky. Fans were not happy with how the team decided to punish the former LSU star by benching her for one half over her controversial comments about the team.
Reese threatened to leave Chicago if her objectives no longer aligned with those of the team, which obviously did not sit well with the front office. Reese realized her mistake and apologized to her teammates, but the Sky still decided to punish her for her comments that were deemed detrimental to the squad.
At this point, there’s no guarantee Reese’s long-term future is in Chicago.
