Rookie guard Sydney Taylor went from an undrafted player in 2024 to one of the most promising rising stars in the WNBA today.
After securing a training camp contract with the Chicago Sky during the past offseason, she worked her way to earning a roster spot and becoming a vital part of head coach Tyler Marsh’s offense.
In her first season in the WNBA, Taylor averaged 13.6 points on 41.9% shooting, along with 1.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Her best game came against the Las Vegas Aces in August, when she scored 29 points and drained the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.
While the Sky weren’t able to make it to the WNBA playoffs, that doesn’t mean Chicago fans won’t be able to see Taylor play in the coming months.
On Monday, Unrivaled announced that Taylor has joined the 3-on-3 league for its 2027 season. According to the announcement, Taylor agreed to a multi-year deal with the league.
“Sydney Taylor is Unrivaled. Sydney joins us for season three on a multi-year deal,” Unrivaled wrote.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Taylor performs in the tournament, especially alongside other WNBA players. Among the biggest names playing in Unrivaled in 2027 are Paige Bueckers, Napheesa Collier, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, Kelsey Plum and Olivia Miles.
Some of Taylor’s Sky teammates are also participating, such as Kate Martin, Natasha Cloud, DiJonai Carrington and Skylar Diggins.
Unrivaled will kick off its third season on Jan. 8, 2027, at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
