Natasha Howard had a memorable season with the Indiana Fever in 2025. The former Florida State Seminoles standout was an integral part of head coach Stephanie White's team, starting all 44 regular-season games. The 6-foot-3 forward's role became even more pronounced amid the Fever's season-ending injuries, including that of cornerstone superstar Caitlin Clark.
Howard's biggest moment came during the WNBA Commissioner's Cup Final when she led Indiana to a 74-59 win over the Minnesota Lynx. The three-time WNBA champion dropped a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double with four assists and two steals, en route to being named the Commissioner's Cup MVP. This was the first time the Fever had won the in-season tournament in franchise history.
Even before Howard made her name in the league, she had already established herself as an icon for Florida State. The two-time WNBA All-Star suited up for the Seminoles between 2010 and 2014. Howard was named an ACC All-Freshman in her first year, an All-ACC forward three times and twice on the ACC All-Defense squad.
Howard received some major career news on Friday in relation to her legendary stint with the Seminoles. Florida State announced that it will retire her No. 33 jersey.
"Natasha Howard is one of the greatest to ever wear Garnet and Gold and I couldn't be more proud," FSU head coach Brooke Wyckoff said, via the official announcement on the website. "She gave everything she had to this program, and she's continued to make us proud every step of the way. Seeing her succeed as a WNBA champion and All-Star only reinforces what we always knew; she's one of the best to ever do it."
Howard took to social media on Friday to share the announcement as she responded to the congratulatory messages that have been pouring in.

During her time in Florida State, Howard produced averages of 14.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.4 blocks. She finished her career with 1,811 points and 1,047 rebounds in 127 games played.
The jersey retirement ceremony will be held on Nov. 16. Florida State will hang her jersey in the rafters at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center following its game against Indiana. Howard will be just the fifth player in program history to have her jersey retired.
As for her WNBA career, Howard will be entering her 13th season in 2026. Her future with the Fever currently remains in the balance, with the 34-year-old entering free agency once the window officially opens on Feb. 1.
