Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever had one of the more improbable WNBA playoff runs in recent memory. Missing numerous players to season-ending injuries, including Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, Boston helped the Fever get past the Atlanta Dream in the first round before taking the Las Vegas Aces to overtime of Game 5 in the semifinals.

With all the injuries Indiana faced, Boston took on a larger role, tallying career-highs of 15 points and 3.7 assists per game during the regular season, while grabbing 8.2 rebounds. But Boston also got it done on the defensive end, averaging 1.2 steals and a team-high 0.9 blocks. She also gave opposing bigs, including WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson of the Aces, nightmares in the low post.

For her performance on the defensive side of the ball, the WNBA has named Boston to the All-Defensive second team, marking the first time the former South Carolina Gamecocks forward has earned the honor. Joining Boston on the second team include Golden State Valkyries guard Veronica Burton, Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard, Seattle Storm center Ezi Magbegor and New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart.

The All-Defensive first team consisted of Wilson, Minnesota Lynx stars Napheesa Collier and Alanna Smith, Storm forward Gabby Williams and Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas.

"congrats to Aliyah Boston on being named to the 2025 WNBA All-Defensive Second Team ," the Fever wrote on X.

WNBA fans joined the Fever in congratulating Boston, leaving their thoughts on social media.

"Congratulations to AB! ," one fan said.

"She deserves First Team!! But Congratulations on your achievement!! ," added another.

"Congratulations!!!!!! Of course you are!" wrote a third.

"Congrats. You are first team in our eyes," posted a fourth.

"Well deserved. The organization should’ve campaigned for Lexie to make it. She was a Star on defense all season," added a fifth.

The Fever could see major changes this offseason as Boston prepares for her fourth year in the WNBA. In fact, only she, Clark and rookie Makayla Timpson remain under contract heading into the 2026 season.
