Courtney Vandersloot Makes Change Amid Chicago Sky Report
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

WNBA star Courtney Vandersloot is reportedly expected to return to the Chicago Sky in free agency. Interestingly, it appears the playmaker just confirmed that decision with an interesting move on social media.

Vandersloot is an unrestricted free agent after playing the last two seasons with the New York Liberty, helping them win the 2024 WNBA championship. Prior to her run with the New York franchise, she spent 12 seasons with the Sky after being drafted third overall in 2011.

The five-time All-Star was also part of Chicago's 2021 title run. During her time with the Sky, she also led the league in assists six times.

While her Chicago return has yet to be officially announced, ESPN noticed the move she made on social media, which all but confirms her free agency decision.

Vandersloot has already updated her Instagram bio, which now says "Chicago Sky."

WNBA free agency contracts cannot be signed until Saturday, so the deal between Courtney Vandersloot and the Sky cannot be made official until then. That is likely the reason why the two parties have yet to make an announcement.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Vandersloot will help and fit in with the Sky, especially since she joins an entirely different team than the one she was part of a couple of seasons ago. Not only do the Sky have a new head coach in Tyler Marsh, but they also have a new core in Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso.
