On Monday, the starters for this year's WNBA All-Star game were announced. It wasn't exactly surprising that Indiana Fever's Caitlin Clark, who was the leading vote-getter in All-Star balloting, would be a starter.
A few other big names who will also start are Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart from the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces' A'ja Wilson.
Paige Bueckers, who was the No. 1 pick in this year's draft, will also be a starter. Curt Miller, the general manager of the Dallas Wings, called her to let her know, and she seemed almost speechless.
"Paige, I'm happy to report in congratulations that not only have you been named to the 2025 WNBA All-Star team, you have been named a starter in your rookie season for the WNBA All-Star game," Miller said.

Bueckers is fresh off leading UConn to the women's NCAA championship a few months ago and winning a slew of individual awards during her time there. Lately, it seems as if she has just started to find her game at the pro level.
She is averaging 18.4 points and 5.8 assists a game and is shooting 46.1% from the field so far this season. The Wings, who were 9-31 last year, currently have a 5-13 record, but they have won four of their last six games.
The 23-year-old has given a struggling Wings franchise some tangible hope for the immediate future. They have won just one playoff series since 2009, when they were known as the Detroit Shock and were one year removed from winning the WNBA championship.
The All-Star game will take place on Saturday, July 19, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Fever's home arena. Tickets for the game reportedly sold out in a matter of hours after becoming available, which is a measure of how much the WNBA's popularity has spiked in a short span of time.
