Dallas Wings land No. 1 overall pick in WNBA Draft

The Dallas Wings didn't win many games during the 2024 WNBA season, but they did score a big win on Sunday that could significantly impact the long-term outlook of the franchise.

The Wings were the winners of the WNBA draft lottery and will pick No. 1 overall in the 2025 draft.

Dallas finished with the league's second-worst record (9-31), just one game ahead of the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Sparks will pick No. 2 in the draft, followed by the Chicago Sky with the No. 3 overall pick. The Washington Mystics and expansion Golden State Valkyries round out the top five picks in the draft.

Here is the complete rundown of the lottery results.

UConn guard Paige Bueckers is the expected No. 1 overall pick. She does have one year of NCAA eligibility remaining but seems to be treating this season as the end of her college career. While she does not have quite the upside of 2024 No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark, Bueckers projects to be a superstar and franchise-changing player.
