The Dallas Wings are currently the worst team in the WNBA. After losing five straight games and nine out of their last 10, Paige Bueckers and Co. are now in possession of a 9-29 record and are stuck at the very bottom of the league.
They have a big game coming up on Wednesday, though, as they battle the Connecticut Sun, who, at 9-28, are just half a game above the Wings in the standings. A win for Dallas on Wednesday will see them climb the rankings as they look to avoid a last-place finish with five games remaining on the schedule after the Sun matchup.
The bad news for the Wings is that Bueckers might not be able to suit up for Wednesday’s showdown. This is after the team announced that their prized rookie is questionable to play in the game due to an undisclosed illness.

It is also worth noting that Bueckers missed practice on Tuesday, which adds further doubt to her availability for the Sun game.
Apart from Bueckers, four-time All-Star Arike Ogunbowale also skipped practice on Tuesday. Ogunbowale, however, has already been ruled out against the Sun due to a right knee issue
Ty Harris, JJ Quinerly and Li Yueru are all out as well against Connecticut. Myisha Hines-Allen is reportedly dealing with a personal matter and could be away from the team for the Sun game, although she has not been included on the injury report.
The Wings have had to call for some reinforcement amid their troubling injury situation. This came in the form of 6-foot-2 guard Serena Sundell, who was a third-round pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Dallas made the announcement via social media earlier on Tuesday.
The Dallas Wings have signed guard Serena Sundell to a seven-day hardship contract.

It was the Seattle Storm who scooped up Sundell as the 26th overall pick in the draft. However, the former Kansas State standout was unable to secure a season-long contract with the team. The Storm decided to waive her before the start of the campaign.
The Wings’ injury crisis has given life to Sundell’s WNBA career, though. According to Dallas, the 22-year-old will be available to play against the Sun, and she could potentially make her WNBA debut, especially considering how depleted Dallas’ backcourt currently is.
Sundell, a two-time All-Big 12 and NCAA All-Region guard, played four years for Kansas State in college, putting up career averages of 12.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 triples per game.
