The Dallas Wings are signing forward Liatu King to a rest-of-season contract, league sources tell DallasHoopsJournal.com. The move fills the final roster spot ahead of Thursday’s matchup against the Phoenix Mercury and comes amid a wave of injuries that has left Dallas dangerously close to the WNBA’s active-player minimum.

King, a 6-foot forward out of Notre Dame, was selected No. 28 overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. She appeared in 12 games for L.A. while on a hardship contract, averaging 3.0 points and 2.1 rebounds in 8.3 minutes per game. The Sparks released her on June 28.

Dallas general manager Curt Miller signaled the move was imminent during media availability on Tuesday.

“Yes. We will sign someone before Thursday’s game,” Miller said. “We are in those discussions currently. Look forward to bringing that person in.”

Miller added that the decision was time-sensitive due to ongoing injuries and limited availability across the roster.

“We may need them,” he said. “We’re in the range of potential forfeit with how many injuries we have and what they will or will not allow you to play with. So we need that 12th roster spot signed, and we anticipate that before Thursday.”

Dallas is currently without multiple key contributors. Arike Ogunbowale (hand) and DiJonai Carrington (rib) did not practice for two straight days, while Myisha Hines-Allen partially participated for a second practice. Tyasha Harris (knee) is out for the season, and Maddy Siegrist (knee) remains sidelined long term. The team recently released guards Haley Jones and Kaila Charles from hardship contracts and traded forward NaLyssa Smith to Las Vegas, creating an open roster spot.

King offers much-needed rebounding and frontcourt stability for a Wings team regaining balance with Teaira McCowan, Luisa Geiselsöder, and Li Yueru now back in the rotation. King played four seasons at Pittsburgh before transferring to Notre Dame for her graduate year, where she averaged 11.5 points and 10.4 rebounds across 33 games. She earned All-ACC Second Team honors, led the conference in defensive rebounds (240), and was named a semifinalist for the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year Award.

Her college career was highlighted by back-to-back double-double seasons, including 18.7 points and 10.3 rebounds as a senior at Pitt, when she was named ACC Most Improved Player. King joins a Wings frontcourt now featuring Teaira McCowan, Luisa Geiselsöder, and Li Yueru — all of whom have recently helped stabilize the rotation after a rocky start to the season.

Dallas has won four of its last six games. King’s signing adds much-needed reinforcements as the Wings continue to fight for positioning in the second half of the season.
