Dave Portnoy Calls Out WNBA for Treatment of Caitlin Clark in Sun-Fever Game

The Connecticut Sun were defeated by the Indiana Fever 88-71 on Tuesday night, as it was another rough loss for the team. The Sun kept the game competitive in the first quarter, but for the remainder of the contest, they were not able to keep up the intensity. Tina Charles led the way with 20 points, eight rebounds, and three assists for the Sun, but it wasn't enough to get them the win.

Things also got physical during the game with Caitlin Clark after she was poked in the eye by Jacy Sheldon in the third quarter. Clark confronted Sheldon, and Marina Mabrey came in and shoved the Fever guard to the floor.

The referee upgraded Sheldon's foul on Clark to a flagrant. Technical fouls were also assessed to Clark, Mabrey, and Charles.

Not many people were fans of the calls, and they thought that Mabrey should have been ejected for shoving Clark. One of those people was Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy.

"Imagine not kicking Marina Mabrey out after she assaults the face of the league? Just a common tech? Sick league WNBA. Also shouldn’t have been a tech on Caitlin since that girl got in her face after gouging her eyes," Portnoy wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Clark is just coming back from a quad injury, and it wouldn't be ideal for her or the Fever if she were to go down again because of the physical play around the league.
