DeWanna Bonner started the 2026 WNBA season with the Phoenix Mercury, but she left toward the end of the campaign after reaching a buyout agreement with the team. Phoenix allowed her to leave so she could join a contender in what could be her final postseason.
Bonner proceeded to sign with the Atlanta Dream and helped them reach the WNBA Finals. During the postseason, she averaged 7.7 points and 3.9 rebounds as Atlanta’s key player off the bench.
Unfortunately for Bonner, the Dream failed to win the championship, losing to the Golden State Valkyries in seven games.
Naturally, there are now plenty of questions about Bonner’s future in the WNBA. If you ask Dream fans, though, they want her to run it back with the Atlanta franchise.
On Tuesday, Bonner shared a parting message and expressed her appreciation for the Dream and their fans following an incredible run. She also touched on what’s next in her career, stating, “Just remember, if you didn’t hear it from me, you haven’t heard it yet.”
“ONE MORE YEAR!” a fan exclaimed. Another one said, “Legend! Atlanta loves you, DB! Let’s run in back one more time!”
A supporter added, “We love you in the A! Please come back one more year!!!”
“You were 100% the vet the dream needed!! we need you back next season GOAT!” a poster stated.
“One more year DB!! Your job is not done,” a follower shared.
A sixth commenter exclaimed, “DB, we need u back! Give us another yr!!!”
It will certainly be interesting to see what Bonner does next. Regardless of her decision, though, she has nothing left to prove. The 39-year-old is a two-time WNBA champion and six-time All-Star. She’s also one of the best scorers in league history, currently No. 3 in the all-time scoring leaderboard.
