Diana Taurasi Reveals Truth Behind Retirement Decision
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Diana Taurasi officially called it a career on Tuesday after 20 seasons in the WNBA. The Phoenix Mercury star announced her retirement in an interview with TIME magazine, admitting that she's "full" both "physically and mentally."

That being said, Taurasi also went into detail about why she decided to walk away from the game after two decades. In the same interview, the 42-year-old WNBA icon shared that she just couldn't continue anymore.

"I just didn’t have it in me," Taurasi admitted, noting that when she realized that, she knew she had to make the tough decision to retire.

"That was pretty much when I knew it was time to walk away."

For what it's worth, Diana Taurasi has nothing left to prove in her career. She is already considered by many as the greatest player to ever suit up in the WNBA, and she has the accolades to back it up.

Taurasi is a three-time WNBA champion with the Mercury, a two-time Finals MVP, 11-time All-Star and five-time scoring champion. She leads the league in all-time scoring with 10,646 points, a record that is unlikely to be broken any time soon.

The White Mamba has succeeded at every level that she played. She has three NCAA titles with UConn, and she owns the record for the most basketball gold medals in Olympic history with six.

While Taurasi's career is over, her legacy and what she has done for the game will certainly be remembered forever.
