Dijonai Carrington Facing Backlash Over Actions in WNBA Game

Another clip from the same game is circulating online, which also involves Carrington. In the video, Carrington is seen striking Valkyries guard Tiffany Hayes on the face as the latter went up for a layup during the game.

Carrington attempted to block Hayes' shot. But the Sky guard missed the ball completely, with her hand landing squarely on Hayes' face.

Carrington's actions have reignited discussions about her previous hard foul on Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham. Carrington was tossed from Saturday's game after she made contact with Cunningham's head during a fast break. The Sky star was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul, warranting an automatic ejection.

The fans on social media had a lot to say about Carrington. Supporters reacted strongly to Carrington’s actions against the Valkyries, demanding that the league intervene.

“why doesn't the @WNBA do anything? are they waiting for one of these girls to go blind in one eye before they kick that trash outta the league?” a fan said.

“They can start adding face slaps to her stat line for every game, sheesh,” a user stated.

“If this girl has fingernails on, it is even more dangerous. How do you keep your hands straight up and then curve them to her face reckless man,” a comment read.

“This is weird.  The right hand is swiping for the ball.  The left hand is just slapping her on the side of the head.  What was she doing here?” another fan added.

“Amazing how often one player goes for others’ face. At some point people should realize it’s not an accident,” a user pointed out.

“When will she be banned?” a user asked.

The former Baylor standout finished the game with three points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Chicago ultimately absorbed a 91-71 defeat to the Valkyries on Wednesday, which was their 22nd loss of the season. The Sky dropped to 12-22.
